Pressure Relief Meetings
By prior arrangement by means of pre-registering, you may be able to schedule a Pressure Relief Meeting at the Share-a-Day. Please put in your request by registering at least two weeks prior to October 20th, and we will do our best to schedule an appointment. If you are qualified to give PRM’s, please notify your Intergroup Representative ASAP; we can use your help.

There is a $21 suggested 7th Tradition Contribution for this 5-week workshop. This is a MI Intergroup fundraiser. Proceeds for this event support the Spending Plans of GSR’s/ISR’s attending the annual Debtors Anonymous World Service Conference and the General Service Office of Debtors Anonymous. No one is turned away due to lack of funds. Scholarships (50:50) are available through our self-supporting workshop fund on an as-needed basis.

Upon receipt of your $21 suggested 7th Tradition Contribution you will receive the conference call telephone number and access code plus the link for the online presentation and your workshop registrant login. Use your registrant login to view and download the meeting agenda/schedule, handouts and suggested recovery resources.

Registration for Round #2 opened on Friday, September 14, 2012 and closes on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Meetings to begin Friday, October 19, 2012 and conclude on Friday, November 16, 2012. Meetings are held from 8:30 – 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Your suggested 7th Tradition Contribution can be in the form of cash, check or money order. Checks or money orders are made payable to MI INTERGROUP DA GROUP #426. Mail your suggested 7th Tradition Contribution to: MI INTERGROUP, c/o Pete Michael, 2065 Chalmers Dr. Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Please include your e-mail address, phone number, gender (F/M) and time zone with your contribution. Should your Personal Spending Plan suggest a scholarship is right for you, then send your request, in writing, along with your 50:50 contribution. It is the intention of MI Intergroup to honor all scholarship requests.

The material presented in this 5-session, 12 Step Basic DA Recovery Workshop is merely an outline of the original AA 12 Step Program along with a brief method of ‘Getting Started’ in Debtors Anonymous. This workshop IS NOT a shortcut to long-term recovery. It is an introduction…a brief course on the fundamentals…a foundation on which to build YOUR long-term recovery. You will be TAKING all 12 Steps in a 5-week period. We encourage and strongly suggest that you continue and deepen your Step Work with your Sponsor, within your DA or BDA meeting and within another Step Study group.

 A Regional Forum for D.A. members throughout the Midwest will be held Saturday, April 21, in suburban Chicago, Illinois.

The Midwest Regional Forum, sponsored jointly by the Debtors Anonymous General Service Board and Great Lakes Area D.A. Intergroup (GLADA), will take place from 9 am to 4 pm at Lutheran General Hospital, 1775 Dempster Street, in Park Ridge, Ill. The event is open to all D.A. members free of charge.

Regional Forums have been described as “boot camps for D.A. service” or “D.A.  From A to Z.” They feature a day of intensive presentations on all aspects of service, including D.A.’s history, service structure, finances, literature, communications, long-range planning, recovery resources, the Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts for D.A. World Service, and the functions of the General Service Office. There will also be ample time for questions and comments from participants.

The goal of the forums is to help D.A. members build strong groups and Intergroups, to feel connected to the larger worldwide fellowship, to meet local and national-level trusted servants, and to have their questions answered and comments heard about all aspects of Debtors Anonymous.

Three current Trustees and one former Trustee will be joined by Chicago-area GSRs and GLADA officers in putting on the forum. The Midwest event is the eighth in a series of Regional Forums held in different parts of the U.S. during the past two and a half years.

Refreshments will be served during the day. Lunch will be available at nearby restaurants. Those wishing to will also be able to join members of the GSB for dinner after the event.

The new issue opens with an article outlining D.A.’s growing pains as we get clarity on rights issues with regards to our literature– starting with several instances of wording borrowed from A.A. without permission, to our Preamble, where permission  was mistakenly given by A.A. The Literature Publications Committee, Legal Affairs Committee, and the General Service Board as a whole are committed to including proper attribution when permissions are granted or replacing material when it is not.

Two trustee bios are included in the “Meet The Board” section.  There is also a list of open service positions available for those D.A. members who are interested in taking their service to another level.

As is customary, the issue contains reports of actions taken in recent months by committees of the GSB and standing committees of the WSC, and a report from Finance.

Past issues of the Focus are also available on the website. D.A. groups have permission to download as many copies of the publication as they wish for group use.
